Compliance Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Assists with the Credit Union’s overall compliance with applicable rules, regulations and statutory requirements.
  2. Performs ongoing quality control reviews/audits to ensure compliance with regulations, with emphasis on Fair Lending.
  3. Administers the Credit Union’s member behavioral reports. 
  4. Audits the sale of credit insurance products to ensure compliance with credit union guidelines.
  5. Reports findings related to internal quality reviews to designated members of management.
  6. Works in tandem with the Internal Audit Department when requested. 
  7. Follows up on various examinations, audit and compliance review findings and recommendations to ensure adequate corrective action has been completed.
  8. Reviews and monitors the Credit Union’s record retention procedures concerning retention, retrieval, preservation, and disposition of data.
  9. Provides process related insight relative to the continuous enhancement of compliance/risk management procedures.
  10. Maintains a high level of confidentiality relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times.
  11. Maintains knowledge related to industry events, trends and technology which may affect the credit union.
Contribute to the effective department and credit union operations by performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:    
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.  Ability to become and remain 100% bonded.
  • 2 year degree or specialized training preferred.
Required Knowledge:        
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state financial regulations.
  • Understanding of real estate law, loan procedures and documentation, and auditing.    
  • BSA Specific Requirements: Notifying your manager or the BSA Manager when any suspicious activity is identified. Complete assigned training. 
Experience Required:    
  • Knowledge of banking/credit unions
  • 1-3 years related experience.
